How it works
One membership, recorded twice.
You have one membership. It is first recorded in the official ByteShares membership register, and may later also be documented through a verified account on ByteShares DLT.

The architecture
- 1
ByteShares.dk
Membership and certificate
Application, admission, membership register, member number and the membership certificate. This is the legal record.
Available - 2
eIDspot
Identity and access
The identity hub for verified on-chain access. Publicly the credential is described as a digital membership credential.
Planned - 3
VPLedger
Compliance and proof
The backend compliance, registration and execution protocol that enforces the rules behind digital activity.
Planned - 4
ByteShares DLT
Digital activity
Where a verified member may later operate a digital account. The account is not a second membership.

Services
The modular institutional and white-label application framework built on top of the foundation.

Certificate and digital account
The certificate remains the legal proof of membership. The on-chain account, once deployed, becomes the operational proof. A certificate alone does not authorise DLT activity, and tokens alone do not create membership.
Full digital participation requires matching official and verified digital status: active membership, eIDspot verification, VPLedger activation, a digital credential and the relevant VPL or TIB status.
VPL and TIB
- VPL is the token abbreviation. One unit is a Vimple; several are Vimples.
- 1 VPL has a protocol reference of EUR 1 and is a compliance and activation unit.
- VPL grants no extra vote. 1 VPL can support 1 TIB.
- After deployment, an Annual Membership may be linked to 160 VPL activation capacity, subject to final rules. This is not operational today.
- TIB is the planned native utility and collateral layer. It grants no extra votes and is not the legal membership registration.
TIB is created under the protocol’s validation and collateral rules. It is not an ordinary bank credit. If a qualifying TIB position falls below the applicable requirement, the digital membership position is no longer fully supported.
Your account is your digital house
You control the key, the certificate documents membership, eIDspot verifies identity, VPLedger enforces compliance, VPL and TIB support the digital position, and the ledger preserves history. This is an analogy — it is not ownership of physical or virtual real estate, and ByteShares cannot move member tokens arbitrarily.
Closing an account
Permanent closure is irreversible. The account can never be reopened, reused or transferred, and the old key cannot reactivate it. Ledger records remain as immutable audit trails, but owner access ends permanently. A closed or empty DLT account does not by itself complete a formal withdrawal from the cooperative — a separate formal request is required, and repayment is never automatic.
